RE: Annual out West Class B Rally

The "Annual B Rally" is not an East coast rally. It can be held anywhere. It's just the only members who step up to organize it are from that part of the country.
I will say this once more, I have been told that Rallies, socials, etc. are to be put in the "Rally" forum. I asked to keep the "Annual Rally" in CVC, and got the OK. I don't know how much clearer I can be about this.
If you want to follow the rallies, you will have to take the time and follow the links in the CVC "Sticky", or visit the "Rally" forum. It's very easy to subscribe to a thread, and can be easily followed.
This was discussed to death in another thread, that had to be closed, why it's being brought up again I have no idea, but I'm done spending my time answering the same old questions. Maybe RV.Net should be thanked for giving everyone a free place to get together, to socialize, have rallies, and social events, instead of continuing to question the policies.

RE: Annual out West Class B Rally

Rodger,
I was not being petty, I was just asking a question.
Your response is just plain rude.
Did I mention your name? Sorry you took it that way. I was referring to PM's I have received, and the last discussion about this subject that I had to close. I guess I should have said that in the post.

RE: Touch up paint for Roadtrek

The accent paint used on the 2002's is not avaialble in the U.S. so I doubt the code will do you any good.

RE: Annual out West Class B Rally

"Rodger, it may be easy for some, but since I have got back from the "B out West" rally I have not checked that "Rally" forum ONCE!"
WHO'S FAULT IS THAT?
All you have to do is click on the "Sticky" in CVC for the information.
"Seems the two rallies are not equal."
So I'm giving a little priority to the "Annual Class B Rally" that has been going on for what 6 years now.
It seems some here are so petty that they wont be happy till the "Annual Rally" gets moved to the Rally forum, well that's not going to happen, so get over it, and move on!

RE: Winegard converter box for digital TV

You can run it off of a small inverter, so you can watch TV when your on dc power. You can also pick up one of these and use it to power the box. Like having a small second battery. http://www.xantrex.com/web/id/61/p/1/pt/31/product.asp
http://www.xantrex.com/images/products/xp-powerpack400plus_290x230.jpg width=250
You will need an A/B switch to switch between cable/ant.

RE: Annual out West Class B Rally

This was discussed in length some time back. The decision was made that all rallies, socials, get-togethers, except for the "Annual Class B Rally" will be posted in the "Rally" forum.
Members will just have to check the "Sticky" in "CVC", or go to the "Rally" forum. It's very easy to "Subscribe" to a topic so it doesn't get lost.
This is why RV.Net has a "Rally" forum, and they want rallies posted in that forum. It has nothing to do with Class B only rallies.

RE: Mercedes diesel service

Some are set up to handle the Sprinters, and some are not. You will just have to check with the dealers.

RE: Touch up paint for Roadtrek

I believe the paint they used on the older Roadtreks, at least 2002 and older, is paint not approved to be sold in the U.S., so you will have to try and have it matched. I had the type/brand of paint, and paint code for the mocha, but my friend who owned the body shop, where I was having some paint work done, said the paint was unavailable. They had a real hard time matching the color, and I can definitely see the difference, but most other people don't notice it. The base white, and the newer sand, is a standard Dodge, or Chevy color, and touch up paint should be available for that.
I don't know about the paint for the newer models, but the problem may still be the same. Try calling some other dealers, and see what they tell you. I was under the impression that the paint, for the newer Rt's, was changed to an approved paint, and available in the U.S. Not positive about that though.

RE: Do you run your genset every month during winter?

In both cases, that's 'all' it took, so I'm _quite_ sure it was fuel varnish from disuse.
Than IMHO it wasn't disuse, but misuse, or negligence.
On carbureted engines I always turn the fuel off and run the carburetor dry before storage. Even if that is lawn-mower for 3 weeks.
My boat didn't have shut off valve, so I installed one.
Thats great for you, but for a lot of us, whose gen-set runs off of the RV's fuel tank, that is not an option, so exercising the generator is the correct thing to do. Handbasket's advice is right on, and Onan has voided warranties for lack of use.

RE: Camper Van Video

Always like looking at those old VW"S. I had a 57 with a camper unit built in from Germany. It was my surf buggy. Had a water tank in the back, a table that lowered into a bed, paneling, and a couple of cabinets. Never saw another one like it. Sold it in 67 when I got drafted. :(
It was always a big hit with the parents when I was picking their up a daughter for a date.:W Of course the "Don't laugh your daughter may be in here" sticker didn't help.:B

RE: Used Sprinter Van Sale?

I'm going to close this thread. I have deleted several posts about how bad DHL is, which was not the topic, and has nothing to do with this forum. I really see this thread going nowhere except discussing DHL's bad service. Maybe in the future if someone has direct knowledge of DHL Sprinters for sale we can re-visit the topic.

RE: 12 Volt LCD Recommendation

Not many companies making 15" LCD's, 12, or 110 volts, that have a digital tuner. Seems most have gone to 17" and bigger. Having said that, most LCD's are 12 volt, and converted to 110, so most of them will work with a 12 volt adapter cord, but check first, because I know the Sharp Aquos, that I have, wont work with the adapter because it uses a special plug going into the TV, so I use an inverter.
There are some good buys out there on 15" non digital LCD TV's, and the prices will probably get lower as Feb, gets closer. Most of these will not be wide screen, but if that doesn't bother you, just add a 12 volt digital converter box.

RE: roadtrek/Rodger

I never saw anything mentioned about closing for good. I'm guessing they needed to close for a while so they could save some money to pay the banks for their present van inventory. How long that takes probably is going to depend on new sales of already built Rt's. Could be a couple of months, to who knows when.

RE: Changing Automatic Transmission Fluid

Flushing is the only way to get all the fluid out, and the best way to make sure the correct amount gets put back in. Draining the tranny will only remove about 1/3 to 1/2 of the fluid.
If you do drain the fluid make sure not to over fill it, as the seals could be damaged.
It's my opinion that the whole "flushing is bad for the tranny" is a myth, that has taken on a life of it's own. Someone show me the data and I might change my mind. People saying their transmissions failed after a flush doesn't mean anything. How do we know what was done, or if it was done correctly, just look at how many Quick Lube places have forgot to put the oil drain plugs back in. :(
I like my Chevy dealer, and trust that did the job correctly, I also was able to watch the whole process and talked to the mechanic about it.
